Ivaylo Dichev is Professor of Cultural Anthropology at the History and Theory of Culture Department of the Kliment Okhridski University of Sofia. Initially he worked in the field of aesthetics, then branched out to social sciences with a focus on political culture, the city and the media.
Ivaylo has taught in France, Germany, the United States and other countries and is Associate professor at the University of Paris-10. He has received multiple scholarships, including from the French governments, as well as Fulbright and Rockefeller fellowships. He is an honorary researcher at the Institute for Eastern and Southeastern Studies in Regensburg. His latest book, Cultural Scenes of the Political, appeared in 2019. He leads a master’s program in cultural anthropology and publishes the online cultural research journal SeminarBG.
Ivaylo is also a writer and essayist, and has authored numerous fiction and creative non-fiction books in Bulgaria and abroad.
