Viktor Lilov has a degree in Arabic Studies and is a culture entrepreneur – publisher and music producer. He has specialized at the International Academy of Management – Gumersbach, the University of National and World Economy (Sofia), and the Maison des Cultures du Monde (Paris).
Victor’s “Monthly Music” label supports musicians of different ethnic backgrounds. Black Flamingo Publishing, of which Victor is a co-founder, has issued a series of titles related to racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and homophobia. In the last few years, he has been a member of the Civil Council of the Reformist Bloc (RB) from the civil quota and a candidate for MEP from RB, but left the bloc due to disagreement with its entry into the ruling coalition.
In 2014, together with Vladimir Todorov, Viktor became the first winner of the newly established award “Exemplary LGBT Person”. In 2015, for his courage to openly confront stigma and public prejudice as a civic activist and politician, he received the Man of the Year award from the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee. Victor was a member of the liberal DEOS party and one of its active speakers. In 2015 he became the first openly gay politician to run for office in Bulgaria (mayor of Sofia). Victor is a member of the BHC, and was elected in its Executive Board in 2020.
